I need advice on downloading shows. I know some Dead shows are downloadable, and some are streaming only. When I look at a Streaming Only show it has a count of how many times it has been downloaded. Most of the soundboards, if not all, are streaming only, yet have been downloaded x amount of times. Can anyone tell me how to download a streaming show, and/or how to make it burnable to disc? Sorry for being such a rookie. Thanks in advance for the info.

Brian

I think they count streaming as a download. In the sense that someone played songs from the page. I gather they don't, though, count each individual song play as a "download" ... e.g., whether you play one song or five or a whole show, that's "one download." Just a page view, though, is not counted. At least that's my recollection of how this question has been answered before by the Powers That Be. So it doesn't mean someone has burned it to disc.

Incidentally, if you're wondering how to get ahold of shows that are Streaming Only, the ones online here do tend to be already available in the trading community. That question was asked a day or so ago, and there are links to torrent sites here:

I assumed it was because they used to be downloadable, and the count was from before they wer made unavailable as downloads.

Here's Jeff Kaplan's explanation.

Oh. I had not picked up that only one click per day was allowed. Sometimes I will accidentally close a show (because I have 14 files open on my computer and I get mixed up ...) and don't have any problem opening it again to start over, so I'm wondering if it always works that way.

I'm also pretty sure that all recordings used to be available, they now are not and haven't been for 6 years. Sad face.
